Man killed in wild elephant attack in Kerala

A man died following a wild elephant attack at Aralam in this northern district of the state on Friday, police said.

Kannur (Kerala) | A man died following a wild elephant attack at Aralam in this northern district of the state on Friday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Aneesh AS (44) of Block 10, Aralam Farm here.

According to police, the incident occurred around 4 am, when Aneesh went to the toilet outside his house.

At that time, a wild elephant that was standing near the house attacked him, causing severe injuries.

Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, Aneesh was declared dead on arrival, police said.

Aralam police registered a case of unnatural death and began an investigation.

Officials at the Aralam police station said that human-wild animal conflict is severe in the area, and similar fatal incidents have been reported earlier.

The body will be handed over to relatives after the postmortem examination, police added.
