Palakkad (Keralam) | A 65-year-old man was killed and three others, including his wife, were seriously injured after a car lost control and ploughed into people waiting for a bus at Vaniyampara here on Sunday, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6 am when the car, travelling towards Thrissur, veered off the road and ploughed into people waiting by the roadside at Vaniyampara.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Razak, 65, a native of Vaniyampara.

His wife and two others, were injured in the incident, police said

Razak died on the spot, while the injured were taken by local residents to a private hospital at Irattukulam.

Their condition was reported to be serious, police said

The car was being driven by Amal, 22, a native of Thrissur, police said.

The Vadakkenchery police have taken the car driver into custody, and further proceedings are under way, officials said.
