Kudumbashree sacks three Wayanad officials over fund irregularities

Thiruvananthapuram | Kudumbashree has terminated three officials of its Wayanad district mission after a preliminary inquiry allegedly found financial irregularities in the utilisation of funds at eight VDVK centres in the high range district.

Kudumbashree is the poverty-eradication mission of the state government.

A recent order issued by the mission's Executive Director said District Programme Manager Jayesh V, VDVK Coordinator Harish U P and Special Project Coordinator Saikrishnan were found to have been involved in the alleged irregularities.

The officials have been removed from service with immediate effect, it said.

The action was based on a preliminary report submitted by the Wayanad District Mission Committee following inspections of VDVK centres functioning under the Kudumbashree mission, the order added.

Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs), set up under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana of the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry, are aimed at promoting tribal livelihoods through the value addition, processing and marketing of Minor Forest Produce and supporting tribal communities in developing entrepreneurship.
