KSU leader claims Union Minister Suresh Gopi inaccessible, files 'missing' complaint

A Kerala Students' Union (KSU) leader claimed that senior BJP leader and Union Minister Suresh Gopi was "inaccessible" for the people of his constituency and district for some time, and filed a "missing" complaint with the police on Sunday.

Thrissur (Kerala) | A Kerala Students' Union (KSU) leader claimed that senior BJP leader and Union Minister Suresh Gopi was "inaccessible" for the people of his constituency and district for some time, and filed a "missing" complaint with the police on Sunday.

KSU is the student outfit of the Congress party.

KSU leader Gokul Guruvayoor alleged that Gopi, also the Thrissur Lok Sabha MP, has not been to the constituency for the last three months, and he has not uttered even a word on the recent arrest of two Catholic nuns from the state in Chhattisgarh.

"Even if Gopi was a leader who had completely concentrated on Christian vote bank during the last Lok Sabha polls and gifted a golden crown to a church to woo the community votes, he kept mum when the nuns suffered humiliation and arrest in the BJP-ruled state," he told PTI.

He charged that Gopi was inaccessible when he was contacted by the authorities here for the inauguration of a significant central government project implemented under the Thrissur Corporation.

The union minister was inaccessible not just for the ordinary people of the constituency, even the people in responsible positions in the state could not access him, the KSU leader further alleged.

Gokul said he sent the missing complaint to the East Police via mail this morning and will submit its hard copy at the police station on Monday.

The KSU would also launch a poster campaign in the district since Monday, demanding to find out the "missing union minister", the leader added.

The police complaint by the KSU leader came days after General Education Minister V Sivankutty and a prominent Catholic priest here took a dig at Gopi, citing his silence in the nuns' issue.
