Kochi | Police on Friday arrested two persons and seized over two kg of MDMA worth more than Rs 1 crore during searches of their houses and cars here, officials said.
The arrested were identified as T A Shafeer (33) and Naufal (36), both residents of Mattancherry.
The arrests and seizure were made during an operation by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force, police said.
According to officials, Shafeer was first arrested from Chalikavattom with a small quantity of MDMA.
During interrogation, police found that Naufal was allegedly involved in the drug trade, they said.
Police subsequently searched the houses and cars of both men and recovered over two kg of MDMA, officials said.
Police suspect Naufal procured the drugs from New Delhi and that the two men were selling them at higher prices in Kochi, they said.
Naufal had been involved in drug peddling and other criminal activities in the past, police said.
Police were probing the involvement of more persons in the case, officials added.
