Keralam: Lorry driver seriously injured after boulders fall at quarry

A lorry driver sustained serious injuries after boulders and earth fell onto his vehicle at a quarry in Neyyattinkara here on Saturday morning

Thiruvananthapuram | A lorry driver sustained serious injuries after boulders and earth fell onto his vehicle at a quarry in Neyyattinkara here on Saturday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 7 am at the Shah quarry, where several lorries had arrived to transport rocks and debris, officials said.

According to officials, a large mass of rocks and earth loosened from the top of the quarry face and fell onto one of the lorries waiting at the site, crushing its cabin.

The driver, identified as Anil Kumar, suffered serious injuries in the impact.

Other drivers and quarry employees rescued Kumar from the damaged cabin and rushed him to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for treatment, police said.

Several other workers were present at the quarry when the incident occurred, but no other injuries were reported, they said. PTI TBA TBA KH 08290919
