Keralam govt allocates Rs 2 lakh for Onam celebrations at childcare centres'

The Keralam government has sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for Onam celebrations for children staying at childcare centres under the state Women and Child Development Department, officials said on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram | The Keralam government has sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for Onam celebrations for children staying at childcare centres under the state Women and Child Development Department, officials said on Tuesday.

The special allocation will facilitate Onam celebrations for children who remain at the care centres during the festival days, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a statement.

The Kerala Financial Corporation sanctioned the amount on the chief minister's direction following a request from the state Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna, it said.

Onam feast, outings and arrangements for watching movies will be organised for around 250 children staying at 16 child care centres across the state as part of this, the CMO added.

The auspicious Thiruvonam falls on Wednesday.
