Thiruvananthapuram | Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Monday described Kerala as a land of unity, harmony, spirituality and ancient cultural traditions while releasing a postage stamp and a premium special cover commemorating the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple here.

"Kerala is a land that stands for unity, harmony, spirituality and ancient cultural traditions," Arlekar said while speaking at the event organised by the Kerala Circle of the Department of Posts.

He said the Department of Posts also helped showcase Kerala's cultural heritage to the world.

The postage stamp featuring the gopuram of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple would help take the temple's "glorious history and traditions" to people across the world, the governor said.

Postcards featuring images of the elephant, the State animal, and the Great Hornbill, the State bird, were released, as well.

Arlekar said the postcards reflected the state's "deep connection with nature" and underscored the importance of preserving its rich natural heritage and uniqueness.

The governor suggested organising a 'Bird Festival' in Kerala, which is home to thousands of rare migratory birds, saying the event would help attract tourists and birdwatchers.

He said the initiative by the Department of Posts conveyed the important message of protecting and preserving the state's culture and environment.

As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, those present displayed the Tricolour.

Kerala Circle Chief Postmaster General Amitabh Singh delivered the welcome address.

Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Deputy Mayor Ashanath G S, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple administrative committee members Aditya Varma and Karamana Jayan, and other officials were present.
