Thiruvananthapuram | Fresh cases were registered against an MBBS student here accused of morphing photographs of women classmates and circulating them through Instagram, police said on Thursday.

The cases were registered after students of the Government Medical College here staged a protest in front of the police station on Wednesday, alleging a delay in the investigation.

The protesters also alleged that students were made to wait for long hours at the Medical College police station to record their statements.

Abel, a native of Wayanad and an MBBS student, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly circulating morphed images of his classmates. However, he was granted bail after being produced before a court.

According to police, eight complaints have so far been received against Abel, and two more cases have now been registered based on fresh complaints.

Police said Abel would be arrested in the newly registered cases.

Officials said his mobile phone is being examined to ascertain whether he had similarly targeted more people.

His social media accounts are also being scrutinised as part of the investigation, they added.
