Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the state-level observance of the 16th Student Police Cadet (SPC) Day and 'Toofan Week' in Thiruvananthapuram on August 2.
The minister will receive the ceremonial parade of SPC cadets at the SAP Parade Ground here at 8 am.
Cadets from 20 platoons will participate in the parade wearing 'Toofan Warrior' badges, according to a police statement on Saturday.
Senior IPS officer and state nodal officer of the Student Police Cadet project, Ajeetha Begum, will administer an anti-drug pledge to the cadets.
The state has decided to observe this year's SPC Day with the theme "Toofan – The Narco Hunt", the comprehensive anti-narcotic drive of the state government, and mark August 1-7 as 'Toofan Week' across Kerala, it said.
The week-long campaign aims to mobilise students, parents and the public against drug abuse while creating awareness about the objectives of the 'Toofan' initiative.
State Police Chief Ravada A Chandrasekhar, IG Harshita Attaluri, who is holding additional charge of ADGP (Police Headquarters), senior police officers, teachers and parents will attend the function, the statement added
