Kerala govt sanctions 120 additional Plus One batches in Malabar

Thiruvananthapuram | The Kerala government on Wednesday sanctioned 120 additional Plus One batches in four districts of the Malabar region (north Kerala) to address the shortage of higher secondary seats.

The additional batches have been allotted to Palakkad (30), Malappuram (60), Kozhikode (20) and Kasaragod (10), the office of the General Education Minister said in the statement.

Each batch will accommodate 60 students, enabling an additional 7,200 students to secure admission in these districts, it said.

The statement said the decision fulfils the UDF government's poll promise to ensure adequate Plus One seats for students.

The order was issued as part of the government's efforts to resolve the recurring Plus One admission crisis in the Malabar region, the minister's office added.
