Kerala govt disburses over Rs 49 lakh to kin of Kalladi landslide victims

Kerala govt has disbursed a total of Rs 49.25 lakh ex gratia to the kin of those who died and to those injured in the July 7 landslide that claimed eight lives at the Anakkampoyil-Meppadi tunnel project site

Wayanad (Kerala) | The Kerala government has disbursed a total of Rs 49.25 lakh ex gratia to the kin of those who died and to those injured in the July 7 landslide that claimed eight lives at the Anakkampoyil-Meppadi tunnel project site here, officials said on Monday.

Rs 5 lakh each was disbursed to the families of Chandraban (Madhya Pradesh), Bikash Kumar (Bihar), Anmol (Jharkhand), Bikram Singh Rana (Himachal Pradesh), Rahul Sharma (Himachal Pradesh), Mohammed Imran Ansari (Bihar), Rakesh Guchait (West Bengal), and Azharuddin Ansari (Uttar Pradesh), who had died in the disaster, the district administration said.

Besides that, Rs 2 lakh each was given to Suraj Yadav, Sanjay Thakur, Rajneesh Rawat and Dilip Yadav, who were seriously injured in the incident, it said.

Additionally, Rs 25,000 each was given to T K Kunju, Heer Kumar, Tanmay Ghosh, Koodammal and Santosh Kumar, who suffered minor injuries, it said.

It further said that the amounts have been transferred to the respective bank accounts of the kin of the deceased and the injured.

The Kerala High Court on July 10 had directed the state government to ensure that ex gratia amounts are paid on time to the next of kin of those who died in the landslide as well as to those injured in the incident.
