Kerala CM warns action against wrongdoings among govt employees

Government employees try to make profit from the welfare schemes implemented for the needy.

Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday warned the government employees who try to make profit from the welfare schemes implemented for the needy and said they are under the surveillance of the government.

Even when the government makes remarkable progress in the welfare and development schemes, a minority of the employees, working in various state-run institutions, are thinking about how to make profit from it, he said.

The Chief Minister was speaking after virtually inaugurating an awareness programme for government employees.

Such people (employees) think that no one knows what they are doing but it is better for them to remember that in the new era, there is not much difficulty or hindrance in monitoring every move and taking appropriate action in case of wrongdoings, he said.

"The government is collecting details of such employees and an investigation is being carried out in this regard," Vijayan said.

The Chief Minister also made it clear that his government would have no sympathy for anyone who thinks that they can live comfortably by stealing public money, taking bribes or harassing people by not providing them timely services.

The Chief Minister's warning to the State government employees came days after the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) had detected a widespread misappropriation of the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund allegedly by an organised network of government officials, doctors and agents after submitting forged medical certificates and other documents.
