Thiruvananthapuram | KASE on Thursday exchanged a Letter of Intent with Germany's national railway company, Deutsche Bahn, to boost career opportunities for technical professionals seeking overseas employment.
The partnership between the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence and Deutsche Bahn aims to establish world-class training standards and structured migration pathways for skilled technical professionals from Kerala seeking employment in Germany's railway and allied technical sectors, a statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, State Skill Development Minister Shibu Baby John said the initiative reflected the state government's commitment to building a premier skilling ecosystem aligned with global industry demands.
"This partnership with Deutsche Bahn marks a critical milestone in our efforts to provide globally recognised technical training, ensure qualification recognition and create direct career pathways to Germany's transport and engineering sectors," John said.
The minister said the goal was to transform Kerala into the 'Skill Capital of India'-a hub that serves not only the state's youth but also aspiring talent from across the country.
To ensure the success of the collaboration, the Kerala government has assured full support for setting up specialised technical training centres and state-of-the-art infrastructure required to run internationally compliant pilot programmes, the statement said.
Recognising language proficiency as a key enabler of global employment, the initiative will deploy certified trainers to provide high-quality German language instruction, with a special focus on domain-specific technical terminology, it said.
"The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between traditional academic learning and industry requirements, enabling young professionals to build sustainable, long-term careers abroad," it said.
In his address, John recalled Kerala's long history of international migration and the contributions of Malayalis around the world, from educators who served in Africa in the 1960s to professionals in the United States and the Gulf region, as well as healthcare workers worldwide.
He expressed confidence that Kerala's youth possess the drive and aptitude to acquire advanced technical skills and the German language proficiency needed to excel globally.
The minister invited the visiting German delegation to experience Kerala's biodiversity and rich natural heritage during their stay.
The session concluded with detailed deliberations on launching pilot training centres, defining international mobility frameworks and expanding future avenues of collaboration between KASE and Deutsche Bahn, the statement said.
