Malappuram(Kerala) | Parading a severed goat's head with a caricature of his face tied around its neck allegedly by some IUML activists was a "criminal act of violent politics", LDF leader K T Jaleel said on Thursday, asserting that he would continue to fight against such intimidation tactics.
The incident occurred a day earlier during a victory procession by IUML activists celebrating K T Jaleel's defeat in the Thavanoor Assembly seat in the recent election.
Following the incident, a case was registered under provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and notices were issued to three persons, an officer of Tirur police station said.
In a Facebook post titled -- 'Today a goat's head, tomorrow mine?' -- Jaleel said that even if a "communal coalition" defeats him a thousand times, he will not "surrender".
In the post, he attributed the 'head-cutting politics' to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Jamaat-e-Islami and said anyone with the courage to cut his head can come forward.
He also shared a video of the activists parading a goat and then its head on a stick with a caricature of his face around its neck.
Jaleel, in his post, said that Malappuram does not belong to those who cut off heads, but to those who protect heads.
He lost from the Thavanur constituency to Congress' V S Joy by 14,647 votes in the April 9 Kerala Assembly polls.
