Hibi Eden seeks to quit as KPCC Digital Media Cell chief

Congress MP Hibi Eden has sought to quit as head of the KPCC Digital Media Cell in the state.

Kochi | Congress MP Hibi Eden has sought to quit as head of the KPCC Digital Media Cell in the state.

Congress sources said Eden recently sent a letter to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph requesting to be relieved of the responsibility.

According to party sources, the KPCC has not yet decided on the request.

Eden has decided to exit the cell following the completion of the Assembly election process, sources said.

Though there have been reports that Eden sought to step down following differences over party leaders publicly discussing the chief ministerial post, sources said no such reason was mentioned in his letter.

Repeated attempts to contact Eden for comment were unsuccessful.

Eden was appointed head of the KPCC Digital Media Cell in November last year, after the then chief, V T Balram, resigned following controversy over a social media post from the Congress handle comparing Bihar to bidis in the context of GST reforms.
