Thiruvananthapuram | Congress stalwart A K Antony on Thursday said he has urged party strongman K Sudhakaran to abide by the high command's decision, however difficult it would be, to ensure the defeat of the CPI(M)-led LDF.

Antony's request to Sudhakaran comes amidst reports of his discontent with the party over not being considered as a candidate for the Kannur constituency in the upcoming assembly polls in Kerala on April 9.

Speaking to reporters here, the Congress stalwart said that Sudhakaran is someone who fought against the Marxist "at the expense of his life".

"So, I told him that whatever difficulty he faces, he should ensure that they (CPIM-led LDF) do not get a third term by accepting the party's decision," Antony said.

Kannur MP K Sudhakaran has expressed a strong interest in contesting in the assembly poll from the northern Kerala constituency.
