Four people were arrested for allegedly gangraping a woman at Perambra here, police said

Kozhikode (Keralam) | Four people were arrested for allegedly gangraping a woman at Perambra here, police said on Saturday.

Officials at Perambra police station said the woman, who is a relative of one of the accused, was allegedly given intoxicating substances and taken to various places, including lodges and houses, where she was sexually assaulted.

One of the accused allegedly received money for facilitating the assaults, and the incidents were also allegedly videographed, police said.

The woman did not lodge a complaint for a long time as she was allegedly threatened by the accused.

However, following frequent threats, she recently filed a complaint at the Perambra police station.

One of the accused was taken into custody while staying at a relative's house in Azhchavattam, Kozhikode.

When police reached the house, the relative initially refused to allow them inside.

He was later taken into custody after a larger police team arrived and conducted a search, police said.

The other accused were taken into custody from Kapad and Karuvannur following searches that continued through Friday night, police said.

The accused persons were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
