Exit polls show LDF-UDF positioned neck-and-neck in Kerala: Min Balagopal

Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal on Friday said that the recent exit polls regarding the April 9 Assembly elections in the state show that the ruling LDF and its rival UDF are positioned neck-and-neck and expressed confidence that the Left front will return to power.

The recent exit polls predict that the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) will win in the Assembly polls and the CPI(M)-headed Left Democratic Front (LDF) would come second.

Rejecting the predictions, Balagopal said that exit polls have come in the past and have been proved wrong.

He said that the May 4 poll results will favour the Left as it knows it will win following its interactions with the people.

"So, the figures given in the exit polls cannot be believed. People want the Left front to continue in order to ensure they continue to receive welfare benefits and law and order is maintained in the state," he claimed.

He also said that there is no possibility of a hung assembly or the BJP getting any seats.

"In any case, we need not speculate. We just have to wait till May 4 and everything will be clear," the minister said.
