Cong differs on SIR in Keralam, national level: BJP state chief

BJP Keralam president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday contended that the Congress has differing views on SIR of the electoral roll in the southern state and at the national level.

Thiruvananthapuram | BJP Keralam president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday contended that the Congress has differing views on SIR of the electoral roll in the southern state and at the national level.

Chandrasekhar, in an X post, said that while Chief Minister V D Satheesan praises the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Keralam, he joins Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's protest against it in Delhi.

"In Delhi, CM @vdsatheesan joins his leader Rahul - India’s preeminent fraudulent politician - and parrots the lie that SIR is anti-democracy and 'vote chori'. In Keralam, he praises SIR. He says there is no complaint of anyone being denied the vote, and that names were removed because voters were absent, dead or shifted," the BJP MLA from Nemom assembly constituency contended.

He further said that if Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge was claiming the elections were illegal, "Then on what basis is Satheesan still chief minister?"

"Rahul and Congress should first get together and settle on the same lie. They are only fooling themselves with this shameless politics of lies, hypocrisy and corruption," Chandrasekhar further contended.

There has been no response from the Congress, Satheesan or Gandhi to these allegations. The BJP state president said that SIR was a crucial process designed to strengthen and safeguard democracy.

He alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s only aim was "to create anarchy and chaos, and to divert attention from the people of India repeatedly rejecting his dynastic politics, from his party’s corruption, and from the failure of governance in Congress-ruled states".

"In Keralam, after more than 140 days under the Congress/IUML government, people are asking what they got - except power cuts, protection of the corrupt, personal enrichment of ministers, and the strengthening of patently non-secular and radical forces," he alleged.
