Clear dues under Jal Jeevan Mission: Priyanka Gandhi to Centre

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has urged the central government to clear the dues of the work done under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Wayanad (Kerala) | Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has urged the central government to clear the dues of the work done under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Vadra, the Congress MP from Wayanad parliamentary constituency, has written to Union Minister of Jal Shakti C R Patil requesting him to release as soon as possible the dues of the contractors who have undertaken the work under the project, a party statement said.

In her letter, she told the union minister that there are arrears of Rs 133.27 crore in Wayanad district alone.

She said that due to the non-clearance of dues, the contractors were not taking up new projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and the ongoing work was stalled in many places.

The Congress MP said that since the central government has extended the Jal Jeevan project till 2028, the money for the completion of the sanctioned projects be released as soon as possible.

The project was launched in 2019 to provide safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections to all households in rural India.
