Palakkad (Keralam) | A five-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into a swimming pool at a private resort in Kottayi here, police said on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Rihan Ahmed.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Rihan, who had arrived at the resort with his family, was playing with other children. He accidentally slipped and fell into the deeper side of the pool.

He was pulled out of the water and rushed to a nearby private hospital, but could not be saved, they said.

Kottayi police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
