Thiruvananthapuram | BJP Keralam president and MLA Rajeev Chandrasekhar has urged Chief Minister V D Satheesan to extend the proposed Thiruvananthapuram Metro to Nemom railway station, saying ending it at Pappanamcode would reflect a lack of vision.
In a Facebook post, Chandrasekhar said he had formally written to Satheesan seeking the extension to Nemom.
Chandrasekhar represents the Nemom constituency in the state Assembly.
He said taking the metro up to Nemom would provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion in southern Thiruvananthapuram, improve connectivity and support economic growth around Vizhinjam port while providing relief to thousands of commuters.
"Making Nemom a multimodal transit hub is crucial to fully harness the economic potential of the region," he said.
Chandrasekhar said development planning should always be future-oriented.
