Thiruvananthapuram | Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Monday recalled the Congress party's Bharat Jodo Yatra of 2022, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi, terming it as one of the "strongest political movements" the country has seen.
Satheesan, on the fourth anniversary of the event, said that the yatra, which began from Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022, lasted 136 days, crossed 12 states and two union territories and covered 4,081 km.
"Rahul Gandhi was its hero. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress raised the great idea of India throughout the journey. The divisive politics of the Sangh Parivar were exposed.
That historic journey ended with the opening of shops of love in the market of hatred," he said in an 'X' post along with which he shared photographs of him, former CM Oommen Chandy, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and now state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala walking along with Rahul during the yatra.
He said that he considered being a part of the yatra in Keralam and outside the state, as one of the best experiences of his political life.
Regarding the yatra, Satheesan said he witnessed firsthand the "incredible energy from wide-eyed little children to dynamic Gen Z youth and people from every walk of life."
"On this day four years ago, the historic #BharatJodoYatra set out from Kanyakumari to defend the soul of our democracy and unite hearts across India. Walking alongside you, I witnessed firsthand that incredible energy from wide-eyed little children to dynamic Gen Z youth and people from every walk of life.
Then it was the historic foot march of Bharat Jodo; today, it is the transformational resonance of #ChhatronKiGoonj echoing the aspirations of our youth," he said in his 'X' post.
He further said that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, that spirit of unity has grown into an "unstoppable force".
"Every state in our nation is waiting for the change, and we are certain that 2029 will bear witness to it. Keralam stands resolutely united behind your vision to reform and transform India into a land of justice, equality, and progress for all," he said.
