Aster Medcity's BeFirst Initiative Marks Third Anniversary with St. Albert’s College

Kochi | Aster Medcity celebrated the third anniversary of its life-saving, community training initiative, BeFirst, by launching a new milestone at St. Albert’s College (Autonomous). The hospital officially commenced the journey of training 3,000 students in essential Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, starting with the first batch of 300 students.

Established in August 2022 by Aster Emergency Medicine, BeFirst aims to significantly reduce pre-hospital deaths by equipping individuals to handle medical emergencies with confidence and precision. The program has already conducted over 700 sessions and trained more than 60,000 people across the state, including students, MVD, Community organizations, Rotary and Lions club members, Kudumbasree members, NCC cadets, police personnel, and corporate professionals, through workshops covering First Aid, BLS, ACLS, and PALS, along with the Jeevitham, a First-Aid & Trauma Awareness Roadshow.

In the function, which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Shine Pauly Kalathil, the Vice Chairman & Registrar at St. Albert's College, Biju Isac from RTO (Enforcement), Ernakulam delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Shuhaib Kader (COO, Aster Medcity), Dr. Joseph Justin Rebello (Principal, St. Albert’s College), Dr. Johnson K Varghese (Lead Consultant, Emergency Medicine, Aster Medcity), Motor Vehicle Inspector Vinod Kumar N, Dr. Sabu M C (CoE, St. Albert’s College), Dr. Neeraja James (Head of Department, Economics St. Albert’s College) and Anty T J (Coordinator & Head of the Department, Physical Education at St. Albert’s College) spoke during the event.
