The Aster Institute of Cardiac Sciences at Aster Medcity marked World Heart Day with a distinctive public engagement event, the Kayakathon, held at the Aster Medcity Boat Jetty

Kochi | The Aster Institute of Cardiac Sciences at Aster Medcity marked World Heart Day with a distinctive public engagement event, the Kayakathon, held at the Aster Medcity Boat Jetty. Around 200 people took part in the kayaking event, which promoted heart health awareness. Dhanya Ravi, Disability Inclusion Specialist and chief guest of the programme gave the heart day special message and flagged off the Kayakathon.

The Kayakathon was themed "Flow with the Beat," aligned with this year's World Heart Day theme, "Don't Miss a Beat." The event highlighted the importance of staying active, and taking timely action to prevent cardiovascular disease. As part of Aster Medcity's community health initiative Spandanam, free ECG, blood pressure and blood sugar tests were offered to the public at the venue.

Dr. Shuhaib Kader, Chief Operating Officer, Aster Medcity, and Dr. Rajiv C, Senior Consultant – Director, Advanced Heart Valve Centre & Interventional Cardiology, spoke about the importance of heart health and of adopting an active, heart-conscious lifestyle.
