305 gm methamphetamine seized from Kochi, man arrested

Excise sleuths on Friday arrested a man and seized 305 grams of methamphetamine from his residence at Mattancherry here

Kochi | Excise sleuths on Friday arrested a man and seized 305 grams of methamphetamine from his residence at Mattancherry here, officials said.

The arrested was identified as Shifas AS (28) of Mattancherry.

Acting on information received following recent drug seizure cases, Excise officials had been monitoring Shifas for about a week before raiding his residence, officials said.

The search led to the recovery of 305 grams of methamphetamine, which was allegedly kept in small quantities in several packets.

Excise officials also recovered over Rs 2.9 lakh in cash from his possession, which they suspect was earned through drug sales.

According to the officials, Shifas was allegedly involved in drug peddling after procuring methamphetamine from other states.

Investigators suspect that more people linked to Shifas may be involved in the drug peddling network.

The accused will be produced before a court later as part of the remand procedure, officials said.
