Nepalese NGO plans to set up India-Nepal joint tourism council

A Nepalese non-governmental organisation plans to establish a joint tourism council between India and Nepal to promote cross-border tourism

Kathmandu | A Nepalese non-governmental organisation plans to establish a joint tourism council between India and Nepal to promote cross-border tourism.

The proposed council will bring together tourism experts, travel and tour operators, hotel and resort managers, hospitality professionals and other stakeholders from both countries.

The decision to set up the Nepal-India Tourism Council was taken during the 'Nepal India Cross-Border Tourism Connect 2026' programme, jointly organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), global NGO, and a local tourism campaign in the Himalayan nation's Chitwan district from October 25 to 27.

The three-day programme focused on connecting Nepal's tourism industry with the Indian market by developing joint travel packages and fostering regular business ties between entrepreneurs from both countries.

Nepalese hoteliers met with Indian travel operators to discuss professional collaboration, the NRNA spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, the initiative would help promote Nepal as an attractive destination for Indian tourists while creating new opportunities for tourism businesses.
