Woman drives car on railway track near Hyderabad, disrupts train services

Hyderabad | In a bizarre incident, a woman drove her car for about 8 kms along a railway track on the city outskirts on Thursday morning, disrupting several train services.

The woman suddenly entered the railway track at a level-crossing gate between Shankarpally-Nagulapally stations and continued driving the car despite attempts by railway staff to stop her, according to a railway official.

She later, shifted to an adjacent track and started driving in reverse towards the gate. The railway staff and others managed to stop her.

The woman, who appeared to be mentally disturbed, reportedly confronted the police personnel after being stopped.

However, she was subdued and taken to medical tests.

The woman was previoulsy working in a software company, the police said.

The railway police would register a case.

The incident led to disruption of four passenger trains and an equal number of goods trains, the railway official said.

Services were restored after railway engineering teams inspected the tracks and confirmed their safety.
