The tweet, which claimed that "Hindutva is built on lies," has caused controversy and prompted a complaint alleging that it hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

Kumar was taken into custody by the Sheshadripuram police in Bengaluru and has been produced before a district court. He faces charges of insulting religion or religious beliefs and making statements that promote enmity between classes.

In the tweet, Kumar claimed that Hindutva is built on lies and that it can only be defeated by truth. He went on to list examples, such as Savarkar's claim that the Indian "nation" began when Rama defeated Ravana and returned to Ayodhya, which he said was a lie.
