‘The Kerala Story’ gets a traditional welcome

Bhopal | The much talked about movie, ‘The Kerala Story ’ was screened on 9 May at Cinepolis in DB Mall to a packed audience. Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang was present during the screening of the movie. The enthusiastic Malayalee audience welcomed the Minister in traditional attire. Women in Kasavu Sari and men in Kasavu Mundu welcomed the Minister.

'The Kerala Story’ narrates the tales of three young girls from various regions of Kerala, with the primary focus on the story of Shalini, who is abducted and subsequently converted to Islam. Shalini is then radicalized and compelled to join ISIS as a terrorist.

In the movie, the director has successfully created moments that evoke a natural uneasiness among viewers. After watching ‘The Kerala Story,’ you may be left with several questions about Jihad gaining ground in many countries. This thought-provoking film is disturbing and surely manages to leave an impact.

Political slugfest has already started over the controversial movie with Opposition Congress calling the movie highly objectionable.

Meanwhile, Narottam Mishra, home minister of the state has also targeted Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh on the issue of 'The Kerala Story'. On Monday, Mishra had said that those who question Batla House, who call Zakir Naik a saint and who raise doubts about the surgical strike, must watch 'The Kerala Story'. Narottam had also said that he has also booked movie tickets for Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh.

The movie has clocked one of the highest opening weekend collections for this year, at more than Rs 45 crore. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared The Kerala Story tax-free in the state, adding in a video clip that the movie "should be watched by all". Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared on social media that ‘The Kerala Story’ will be tax-free in the state.
