Bhopal | The 47th Foundation Day celebrations of the Indira Gandhi National Human Museum located at Shyamala Hills in the capital are being organised from March 21 to 23. As part of the celebrations, exhibition-cum-sale of art and craft items, presentations of performing arts, traditional cuisine and 18th annual Ingaramasan special lectures etc. are being organized in the museum premises.
The inauguration ceremony of the programme took place on Tuesday evening at 6 pm with the inauguration of the exhibition 'Tukna-Tukni: The Saga of the Basket Tradition in India' in the Vithi Complex of the Museum. This was followed by the lighting of 'Aal Vilakku', a traditional lamp of 1001 lights from Kerala. This special lamp-combination is lit only on special occasions.
On the first day Odissi dance and Taal Saptak were performed in celebration of regional cultures. On this occasion, Mangalacharan, a dance composition by Bindu Juneja and Pallavi was performed followed by Odia Abhinay, a composition by Banamali Das, a renowned Bhakta poet of Odisha.
The fourth presentation was of Shrirampremashtakam. Meera Rao has composed the music for this dance based on the life story of Shri Ram composed by saint poet Yamunacharya. In the end, tabla player Salim Allahwale and colleagues made the natural environment of the museum reverberate with the tabla presentation of Taal Saptak.
