Economic Survey 2023, Wheat, power bring State to limelight

On the second day of the budget session in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the Economic Survey report was presented.

Bhopal | On the second day of the budget session in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the Economic Survey report was presented. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the facts which have come in the economic survey prove that the financial management of the State is good and the economic situation has strengthened.

The growth rate of Madhya Pradesh is 16.34% in the year 2022-23, which is been an increase of 319 per cent in the last 10 years’.

According to the survey report, Madhya Pradesh is number one in the export of wheat in the country. 46% participation of Madhya Pradesh in total wheat exports in the country, wheat production increased from 1.69 crore metric tonnes to over six crore metric tonnes.

Record breaking increase in agriculture growth rate of Madhya Pradesh due to increase in irrigation potential has been established. The irrigation potential available in the year 2003 has increased from 7,68,000 hectare to 45 lakh hectare in the year 2022.

Madhya Pradesh health budget increased from Rs 662 cr to over Rs 10,400 cr. There has been an increase of more than 43,500 in the number of para medical staff as compared to the year 2003.

Madhya Pradesh is number one in the country in issuing Ayushman cards. So far, more than 3.52 cr Ayushman cards have been issued in the state. More than 24,51,000 patients have been treated free of cost.

In the front of industrial growth rate, it was -0.61 percent in 2001-02 which has now increased to 24 per cent in 2022-23. The gross domestic product was 71,594 crores in the year 2001-02, which has now increased to 13,22,000 crores.

There has been an increase of 13.41% in loans to farmers and 30.22% to MSME sector. Madhya Pradesh is at the forefront in providing loans to street vendors. Loans worth Rs 521 crore was distributed to 5,25,000 street vendors.

In Madhya Pradesh, where till the year 2003, the energy capacity was only 5,173 MW, which has increased to 28,000 MW in the year 2022, thus becoming a surplus state.

In 2003 the irrigation potential was 7,68,000 hectare, which is 45 lakh hectare in 2022.
