Indore | Saddam, who stabbed and killed a seven-year-old girl, has been sentenced to death by a special court. On September 23, Saddam forcefully picked up Myra alias Mahenur, who was playing outside her house in Azad Nagar area, and took her to his own house. She fatally succumbed to 15 stabs.

In barely 120 days, the court completed the hearing and announced the conviction. It said such were always a threat to society. The accused had tried to defend his action claiming to be mentally unstable. As many as 23 witnessed were summoned.

The case was that Myra was playing outside Mohammad Ismail's house near Azad Nagar water pump when Saddam forcefully picked her up and carried her to his place. A woman nearby saw this and ran after him. By then a crowd gathered outside the closed house of Saddam and later broke it open. By then Myra had died.

The special court completed the trial on January 23 and found him guilty on January 31. The punishment of death sentence and a fine of Rs 9000 was pronounced on Monday.
