Bhagoria festival gets State tag

Declared by CM as festival depicting cultural heritage

Bhopal | CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared on Monday that from now on Bhagoria folk festival will be considered as state festival and cultural heritage. The Chief Minister made this announcement while attending the Bhagoria festival in Alirajpur.

He said that 'Bhagoria is an integral festival of tribal tradition. We are deciding that Bhagoria will be considered as a state festival and cultural heritage. The Chief Minister participated in the 'Bhagoria Utsav' organised at Alirajpur along with his wife Sadhna Singh and made several announcements during the programme. He said that the government will leave no stone unturned in organising these festivals so that our tribal festivals and their folk arts remain alive, their celebration and joy continue.

Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon, Guman Singh and other dignitaries were present in the 'Bhagoriya Utsav' organised in Alirajpur district along with CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Notably, Bhagoria festival is celebrated with great pomp in the tribal society. Tribal society celebrates the festival of Holi as Bhagoria festival. This festival starts 7 days before Holika Dahan and youth have a special role in Bhagoria festival.

While making a series of announcements here, the Chief Minister said - 'tribal culture and traditions are amazing'. I salute them. Bhagoria is an integral celebration of the tribal tradition. Now we are deciding that Bhagoria will be considered as a state festival and a cultural heritage. The government will leave no stone unturned in organizing these festivals so that our tribal festivals and their folk arts remain alive, their celebration and joy remain’

He also announced that water from Narmada will be brought to 106 villages of Sondwa, for this we are laying pipes near from Sondwa and bringing it to Alirajpur. The water will also reach the fields for farming.

Along with this, the Chief Minister announced that complete restoration of the Sorva fort would be done and a grand memorial of Baba Chheetu Kirad ji would also be built. He said that we will always keep him alive in our memory by building a grand memorial of our pride Baba Chheetu Kirad ji, who fought against the British in 1883.
