Akhil Bharat seeks FIR against cleric for claiming Lord Krishna offered namaz

Lucknow | Members of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha filed a police complaint against controversial cleric Maulana Jarjis Ansari, seeking an FIR against him for his claim that Lord Krishna offered namaz five times a day, alleging that the remarks hurt Hindu religious sentiments.

"We demand an FIR against the cleric," Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha national spokesperson Shishir Chaturvedi told reporters at Hazratganj police station.

He appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action against the cleric.

The complaint comes after a video of Ansari reportedly addressing a religious gathering in Jharkhand earlier this year went viral on social media.

The video triggered protests by several Hindu organisations that have demanded the cleric's arrest.

Police said the complaint is being looked into for further investigation.
