New Delhi | "Baththa", featuring actors Vijay Sethupathi and Lijomol Jose, is set for a global release on October 1.

The film is presented by Panorama Studios and Zee Studios and is produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, Alok Jain, and Ajit Andhare, according to a press release.

The Tamil film is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and is set against the 1980s backdrop. It follows a gritty and dangerous vintage crime world.

Kumar Mangat Pathak, chairman of Panorama Studios, said the film is deeply rooted in "Tamil culture but has the emotions and conflicts at its heart, which are universal".

“'Baththa' immediately stood out to us for the world it creates and the authenticity with which it tells its story. It is deeply rooted in Tamil culture...We are delighted to collaborate with Zee Studios on bringing the film to audiences beyond its home market, and look forward to introducing this distinctive story to viewers across territories," he said in a statement.
