Thiruvananthapuram | In a relief to actor Maniyanpilla Raju, who is accused in a hit-and-run case, blood test results have showed that he was not under the influence of alcohol, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on February 5, when a car driven by Raju allegedly hit a two-wheeler in Thiruvananthapuram and left the scene without attending to the two injured youngsters.

Police said Raju's blood sample was collected on February 6 and sent for analysis. Officials at the Museum Police Station said the test results, received last week, did not indicate drunken driving.

According to police, Raju was arrested soon after the incident and later granted bail.

With the blood test results now available, a chargesheet will be filed soon, police added.

Following the accident, Raju told reporters he panicked and returned home.

The case was registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for negligent driving, endangering human life, and leaving accident victims unattended.
