Mumbai | Korean sci-fi thriller "Hope", which premiered in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year, is all set to release in India on October 23.

The film was earlier set to arrive in September but the release date was pushed to complete certification process. Now, the film's English version has been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts, while the process for its Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions is currently underway.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Na Hong-jin, who is famous for films such as "The Chaser", "The Yellow Sea" and "The Wailing", "Hope" is an ambitious sci-fi thriller set in a remote port town.

The story centres on a village police chief and his rookie deputy who must defend his local community from a mysterious creature after wildfires sever all communications, while a local hunting party finds itself being hunted deep in the mountains. The film's worldwide release will continue through November 2026, with "Hope" opening in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland this week, followed by releases in Argentina, Germany, France and Spain in October, among other international markets.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Hwang Jung-min ('Ode to My Father'), Zo In-sung ('Moving', 'It's Okay, That's Love') and Jung Ho-yeon ('Squid Game'). Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch also star in the movie.
