Jim Carrey, Ron Howard to reunite for 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'

Hollywood star Jim Carrey and filmmaker Ron Howard are reportedly in talks for a sequel to the classic film "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".

The film, directed by Howard, released in 2000 and featured Carrey in the role of the Grinch. According to the entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the actor and director are in talks to reunite for another instalment.

It will have a script by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel.

The original film revolved around the "Grinch", a bitter, green hermit who hates Christmas and the residents of Whoville. Determined to ruin the holiday, he disguises himself as Santa and steals all the town's gifts and decorations, only to discover the true meaning of Christmas goes beyond material things.

The film, which went on to earn over USD 300 million at the global box office, was based on the 1957 children's book of the same name by Dr Seuss.

It also starred Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski and T J Thyne. among others
