Guy Ritchie's 'Operation Fortune' to stream on Lionsgate Play in May

British filmmaker Guy Ritchie's latest movie "Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre" will release on Lionsgate Play on May 5, the streamer announced on Tuesday.

New Delhi | British filmmaker Guy Ritchie's latest movie "Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre" will release on Lionsgate Play on May 5, the streamer announced on Tuesday.

The spy thriller features an ensemble cast of Jason Statham, Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza, and Bugzy Malone, a press release stated.

The film is about a spy, Orson Fortune (Statham), who must retrieve a stolen high-tech device before an arms dealer (Grant) can sell it to the highest bidder.

"We had the idea to do a spy film about eight months prior to the start of production. In preparation, we watched every action and spy film we could get our hands on. I didn't like our initial premise, so I started again. After I wrote a new scene, which now opens our story, I knew what the tone of the movie would be, and I liked it," Ritchie said in a statement.

Ivan Atkinson, producer and co-screenwriter, said the team wanted to do something different in the spy thriller genre.

"Most spy films fall into one or two categories: they're either a spoof or they take themselves very seriously. We wanted to find a middle ground," he added.
