Lotte India Clarifies FDA Notice on Choco Pie Batch; Independent Lab Tests Confirm Product Safety

The independent test reports confirmed that the preservative levels in the batch remain well within permissible limits set by food safety authorities

Chennai | Lotte India has issued an official statement addressing the recent action taken by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Durg regarding a single batch of Lotte Choco Pie, clarifying that there is no ban on the product and that independent testing confirms it meets all safety standards.

The issue pertained to Batch No. NM10DC2 (manufactured on April 10, 2026, with an expiry date of April 9, 2027). Following the FDA notice, Lotte India commissioned independent testing through National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)-accredited facilities to verify the product's fitness for consumption.

According to the company, the independent test reports confirmed that the preservative levels in the batch remain well within permissible limits set by food safety authorities.

As a precautionary measure during the assessment, Lotte India voluntarily initiated a market recall restricted strictly to the single batch in question. The company emphasized that this action was taken as part of its internal quality assurance protocols and commitment to consumer safety, rather than a wide-scale product ban.

"Reports suggesting that Lotte Choco Pie has been banned or that the product as a whole has been declared unsafe are incorrect," the company stated, adding that it continues to cooperate with regulatory authorities to resolve the matter.

Lotte India reiterated its commitment to regulatory compliance and product quality, assuring consumers that all other batches of Lotte Choco Pie available in the market remain safe for consumption.
