LIC Announces Special Relaxations for Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack

LIC announces fast-tracked claim settlements and special relaxations for families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025.

Mumbai | The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has announced a series of relief measures for the families affected by the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025.

In an official press statement issued from Mumbai, LIC expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of innocent lives and reaffirmed its commitment to standing by the victims during this difficult time. LIC said it would expedite claim settlements to provide immediate financial relief to bereaved families.

Shri Siddhartha Mohanty, CEO and Managing Director of LIC, stated that several concessions have been introduced to ease the process for policy claimants. In a significant move, LIC has decided to accept any official government record confirming the death of a policyholder in the attack—or any compensation paid by the central or state governments—as valid proof of death in lieu of a traditional death certificate.

“All efforts will be made to ensure that claimants are proactively reached and that claims are settled expeditiously,” the statement said.

Affected families and claimants are encouraged to contact the nearest LIC Branch, Division, or Customer Zone for assistance. Additionally, a dedicated helpline has been made available at 022-68276827.
